Theo Epstein is Feelin’ the Championship Mojo

I think the success of the Boston Redsox in 2004 had little to do with Theo Epstein. Although, he did make some key additions to the team like getting David Ortiz, Curt Schilling and Kevin Millar. But as a fan of the game my thoughts simply reach out to the team. They’re the ones that endured all the hard work to become World Champions since 1918. If you’ve recently watched the movie Moneyball you’d also have some sort understanding that the Boston Redsox used that formula from the Oakland Athletics winning season to create the perfect team. It worked. But what does all that have to do with Theo Epstein? In my humble opinion? Nothing…well, next to nothing.

Fast-forward to 2011. The Rangers and the Cardinals are hammering it out in game six at Busch stadium right now. And from the looks of things the Rangers are going to win it all. What does that have to do with the Chicago Cubs? Probably a lot. The Cubs could be facing this Texas team in the 2012 World Series. I have high hopes for the Chicago Cubs. They’ve been through a lot and they’ve been around a long time too. Their last World Series win came in 1908. That’s a long time ago.

So what’s the point of this blog entry? To point out the obvious; the beloved Cubbies probably won’t go to the World Series next season. I don’t even think they’ll make the playoffs. They have a huge ladder of success to climb and that starts with key players and a winning attitude. Do the Cubs have all of that? Maybe so. Maybe they just need some motivation from a guy like Epstein. Or maybe Epstein has some tricks up his sleeve that are going to break open the doors of success. Who knows. But honestly? I’m fricken` excited! I can’t wait for next season and I’m going to pay close attention of what’s happening in the Windy City!
