Who Knew the Phillies Would Win Again…

If neither picture looks familiar then I guess you really haven’t been following baseball much. The Phillies have captured their 5th straight Division title. It’s got to be really exciting to be a Phillies fan or even live remotely close to Philadelphia. But with an All-star pitching staff like Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay. Cole Hamels, Brad Lidge, Kyle Kendrick, Ryan Madson, and Roy Oswalt its kind of a given that the Phils would advance to the playoffs, right? I mean, look at their bats! Ryan Howard? Chase Utely, Placido Polanco, Hunter Pence, Raul Ibanez and John Mayberry…there’s more but those are the only players I could think of at the moment.

Not only all of that but Charlie Manuel at the helm has got to have something to do with it. I’d imagine so. I mean, if I were a bettin` man…

The one thing that concerns me about the Phillies is this; they have gotten to the playoffs a lot in the last ten years but have only won the World Series once. And that was in 2008. The last time before that? Try 1980 against the Kansas City Royals. Granted, it was probably an easy defeat being that it was the Royals but the Royals were in their prime in the late 70′s early 80′s. So maybe it was a tough bout.

I’m thinking the Phillies drop off again and don’t make it passed the Championship series.
